We started Purple Lights as a social running event where we meet weekly to run at beautiful routes and conclude it with a nice meal. Our commitment is to approach running as an expression of fun. Using the run + meal concept as a subject, we have formulated a project that consists of episodes profiling some of our members on a day in life film which would accumulate into a documentary that tells a b-side story about running.
It was a challenging task for me to document this event because I was running together with the crew and I had to hold a camera in my hand as well. However, I was not constrained by the lack of equipment (Tripods, Monopods, Steadycam etc) as my intentions is more of to tell the story than to get the perfect shot. Being clear on my objectives had allowed me to capture the raw essence of the whole event throughout the morning and afternoon.
I am really proud with how the video has turned out, what truly made the video worked for me is because it was an interesting subject, there were movements involved, beautiful textural shots, the typography, beautiful colors, proper direction and finally the music to portray the mood.
